Kimberly Chavkin Moreno

Kimberly Chavkin Moreno is a self-taught artist only discovering her talent for painting and illustration in 2015.  As an elementary school teacher by profession, avid humanist, and animal lover, her realistic painting style often reflects elements of ethereal whimsy.  Utilizing techniques first learned at painting parties and later from Youtube tutorials and self-study, Kimberly employs unconventional techniques, such as painting in reverse starting with black canvas.  She brings light and color into the darkness transforming black backgrounds into landscapes and characters dripping with “fictional realism”.  She lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico with her husband and three children.
